As this car is going to be city runabout, I feel that the gearbox should be thought about carefully.
I would like to see a dual clutch gearbox made to work with a small capacity engine hopefully making the car fun-to-drive. Think about how jerky a SMART car is with the robotised manual box.
Wet dual clutch please, perhaps Fiat can get Ferrari’s help in making it?
The dual clutch gearbox saves fuel/emissions compared with a manual or automatic gearbox. Locating the paddles behind the steering wheel has a safety element to it, also synching to engine electronics & chassis to maximise performance and or comfort gives added features, i.e. driver can set comfort settings on chassis (like in the MiTo) and sport for gear changes. Hopefully justifying the extra cost that a dual-clutch gearbox would cost. Synching it to chassis & engine/gearbox electronics gives the driver more control/options, & allow Fiat to premium price the car (in
