One of the attractions at the Plug-In 2010 conference in Canada was the Plugless Power, a wireless system for charging electric cars.



The equipment transmits the energy through a strong magnetic field created between the tower that generates the power, the surface in the shape of a big block, and an alternator inside the car. The handiness of not having an external connection however, is spoiled due to the Plugleess’ low efficiency: only 80% of the energy is optimized in the process. The rest is completely lost.

This not only raises the price tag when recharging, but it also means more time parked in one spot as it refuels. Nevertheless, with the advances in technology, this could soon change.
